How We Make Our Herbal Extracts
We add our herbs to a combination of distilled alcohol and filtered water. After a period of time, the water- and alcohol-soluble active ingredients are “extracted” from the plant material. The liquid/herb combination is then put into a hydraulic press to yield the “fluid extract.”
About Our Process
Traditional techniques combined with modern equipment and ongoing research enable us to achieve GMP standards (Good Manufacturing Practices). Our unhurried process creates concentrated 1:2 botanical extracts (herb to liquid), yielding a full complement of water- and alcohol-soluble active ingredients.
Why We Use Alcohol for Extractions
Alcohol has been used since antiquity to prepare fluid extracts. Today, we use distilled grain alcohol (ethanol). The liver is well adapted to metabolizing small amounts of ethanol, as it occurs naturally in many foods. In fact, there’s about the same amount of alcohol in one serving of FlyRight as there is in a ripe banana.
Alcohol in fluid extracts is a natural preservative, thus no refrigeration is required.
Shelf life is 2 years for extracts stored safely away form heat or direct sunlight.
